Three members of family fatally shot in Lucknow; one arrested

Three members of a family were fatally shot by close relatives in Lucknow’s Malihabad area, sparking initial suspicions of a land dispute as the trigger.

However, Lucknow DM Surya Pal Gangwar clarified on Friday that the parties involved denied a land dispute, revealing that the deceased had opposed the accused in a separate land dispute with another individual.

DM Surya Pal stated, “Salim’s daughter has been shot by Lallan and his son. It has been said that there is no dispute between them regarding the land; however, there was a joint account on which a case of partition was going on.”

The DM explained that the partition decision was made in 2013, with ongoing appeals, and the incident unfolded amid proceedings related to the case.

A notice for further proceedings was scheduled for Friday, but due to a stay order on the disputed property, no action was taken. The accused then confronted the victim at her house, leading to an argument and gunfire.

The investigation is ongoing, but it was clarified that the dispute did not directly involve land, and the victim’s family was perceived as supporting someone in a separate land dispute with the accused.

The incident, captured by CCTV footage, resulted in the death of the daughter, her husband, and son. A complaint has been filed, the driver arrested, and efforts are underway to apprehend the other accused.
