The Shivalik Vikas Manch organised a block-level meeting in the village of Dhaman, Morni block, which is the only hilly area in the Kalka assembly constituency. The meeting was led by Gulab Singh, the Shivalik Vikas Manch Morni Block President and BDC member.
The State President of Shivalik Vikas Manch, Advocate Vijay Bansal Batao, and the State Organization Secretary, Mohanlal Sharma, presided over the meeting, with the presence of other members such as Tejbhan Gandhi, Ajay Bubble, and Pritam Bhawar.
During the meeting, various representatives, including Block President Gulab Singh and others, expressed the concerns of the villagers. They outlined issues such as the need for repairs to hand pumps, installation of street lights, widening and renovation of kutcha roads, construction of a storage water tank in Gram Panchayat Bhoj Tipra Bharat, provision of drinking pipelines and tap connections under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, repair of electric lines, installation of poles, provision of lights in Batera village, securing ownership rights of Notod lands, construction of a government high school in Dhaman, and the building of roads and facilities in various villages.
Advocate Vijay Bansal, in his address, criticized the BJP-JJP government for alleged discrimination in development works in the Kalka Assembly. He asserted that the government’s failure to provide basic facilities has led to migration from Morni, with about 25% of the local population having already migrated. He highlighted the lack of cremation grounds, inadequate educational institutions, and unfulfilled promises for infrastructure development. Vijay Bansal also discussed the historical negligence of the government in completing projects like the renovation of the Lal Munia Guest House and the construction of a hostel building for forest employees.
He pointed out the unaddressed issues from previous governments, such as the pending construction of an ITI institute, irrigation dam, and the declaration of Morni as a hilly area. Bansal stressed the importance of addressing legal rights, especially in dealing with the forest department’s obstacles and the Notod land issue.
