Security has been increased for the winter session of the Haryana Assembly which started from today after two youths entered the House from the audience gallery in the Lok Sabha. This time three layer security has been arranged for the session. This time security guards were deployed outside the audience gallery inside the House. Entry was given in the house only after full body scan.
Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta had already held a review meeting regarding the security of the winter session, but after the security lapse in the Lok Sabha, the review meeting was called again. In the meeting, he had instructed the officials to take some strict decisions regarding the security of the House.
Like Haryana, now a review meeting will be held in Punjab regarding the security of the Assembly. Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Sandhwa said that a joint review will be conducted with Haryana. The reason for this is that Haryana and Punjab Assemblies operate in one complex. There is access to both the houses from inside the complex, through which leaders of both the states keep coming and going.
The wall of the audience gallery in Haryana Assembly is very small, due to this any person can easily jump from the gallery and throw any object into the House while sitting there. Keeping in view the security reasons, the Speaker has asked for a mesh to be placed on the wall of the audience gallery. Although this will not be possible during this session period, this work will be completed before the budget session.
In view of the winter session of Haryana Assembly, Vice Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta had called a security related meeting. In this meeting, he had sought details from the top officials of Haryana, Punjab and UT Chandigarh to tighten the security arrangements during the session. Gupta also gave important instructions to these officials. It was decided in the meeting that the MLAs along with their support staff would not enter the assembly premises.
