Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with his deputy Tejashwi Yadav, met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi on Wednesday.
Janata Dal United president Lalan Singh, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha, and former union minister Salman Khurshid were also present at the meeting, which took place at Kharge’s residence. The meeting was considered important because the leaders of several Opposition parties are on the verge of forming a united Opposition alliance to challenge the BJP at the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The meeting took place after a dinner party hosted by Congress chief Kharge at his residence in Delhi recently.
During the dinner party, JD(U) chief Lalan Singh had asked the Congress to take up the challenge of uniting all the Opposition parties on one platform.
Of late, Kharge has talked to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray about the need for the opposition to unite to take on the BJP in the next year’s Lok Sabha elections.
