KHAJUWALA : The ongoing public protest in Khajuwala has entered its 33rd day. As a form of protest, the market remained closed until noon yesterday. The Khajuwala Market Shutdown Committee has called for a complete shutdown of the market on Saturdays and Sundays as part of their struggle. A confrontation took place on Wednesday in front of the SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) office between two opposing factions. Supporters from Anoopgarh district held a rally in favour of keeping Khajuwala in Anoopgarh district. The situation escalated when supporters from Bikaner confronted Anoopgarh supporters at the protest site. The police intervened and handled the situation, engaging with both sides. Allegations were made by Bikaner supporters that Anoopgarh supporters threatened to set up tents at the protest site. Anoopgarh supporters alleged that farmers were shown black flags. Anoopgarh supporters had organized a bike and tractor rally, which culminated at the SDM office. Both sides came face to face, leading to a tense situation. The protest in Khajuwala demands that the area remains in Chhattisgarh, not Bikaner district.
