Maoists plan deadly IED attack in poll-bound Bihar

According to IB sources, a special Maoist squad under Bablu Santhal has reached Jamui from Jharkhand to carry out the strike; five districts in the state are on ‘Red alert’.

Maoists plan deadly IED attack in poll-bound Bihar

Intelligence agencies have issued an alert about possible Maoist attacks in five districts of Bihar. According to intel sources, a big attack on security forces during the Bihar elections has been planned by the Maoists. The security forces have been told to be vigilant.

 According to sources, a special Maoist squad has reached Jamui from Jharkhand to target security forces in the Bihar Assembly elections. This main squad is headed by a Maoist named Bablu Santhal. According to intelligence agencies, Bablu Santhal is an expert in planting and carrying out explosions. It has been reported that, currently, 60 to 70 Maoists have arrived in the forests and are planning to attack the convoy of security forces through IED. According to an intelligence agency, 5 or 6 commanders of the Maoists from Chhattisgarh have also reached the jungles of Bihar. 

SP (Operation) Sudhanshu Kumar has also found some Maoist documents about the planting explosives underground on many routes to target police and security forces in several areas, including Gurmaha, Choramar, and Bichala Tola of Barhat block of the district. Along with this, Maoists have also planned explosions in dozens of villages adjacent to the Jamui border in Kharagpur, Gangta, Banka and Munger districts, Kajra, Kanimoh, Barmasia, Hanuman Thanh, Khaira, Abhaipur, and Dharahara in Lakhisarai district. 

After receiving the information from the IB, the security forces have been put on high alert and have been continuously conducting combat operations in the forested area of the border districts. The police have already recovered 40 kg of explosives from the Manikathan forest. Apart from Jamui, the officials of Munger, Lakhisarai, Banka have also been alerted. Central paramilitary forces deployed in these districts have also been asked to be vigilant.
