Earlier Thursday, a massive avalanche struck the mountains surrounding the Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand. According to reports, there was no damage or casualties in the incident.
According to a video clip shared by the news agency, fumes of snow descending the mountains could be seen, and pilgrims and visitors standing in front of the temple were watching the snowslide as it happened.
On 4 June, a similar snow avalanche struck a group of pilgrims en route to Hemkund Sahib in the state. Five of them were rescued by a team from the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF), and a body of one pilgrim was recovered on June 5 after the rescue operation resumed.
