J&K Congress Expels Leaders for Defying NC Alliance

The Jammu and Kashmir Congress has expelled its Srinagar district president, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, along with two other leaders, for defying the party’s alliance with the National Conference (NC) by contesting as Independents in the ongoing Assembly elections. This action sends a strong message to party members about maintaining unity within the electoral partnership.

A spokesperson for the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) confirmed the expulsions, stating, “Breach of alliance unity shall not be tolerated.” The Congress had formed an alliance with the National Conference to bolster its position in the Assembly polls. However, the decision by some leaders to run independently was seen as a violation of the agreement, leading to this disciplinary action.

The expulsions reflect the party’s efforts to maintain a cohesive front in the elections and uphold the integrity of the alliance with the NC. The Congress hopes this move will discourage further dissent within its ranks and strengthen its collaborative efforts in the electoral process.
