A stampede broke out in the Secretariat Encirclement Program organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party when the police lathi-charged the BJP party workers.
As per the schedule, the workers were assembled at Prabhat Tara Maidan, Dhurwa, Ranchi to address the public meeting where senior party leaders including Babulal Marandi, Raghuvar Das and Arjun Munda addressed the workers.
Later, all the leaders and workers of the party marched from Prabhat Tara Maidan towards Dhurva Gol Chakkar to encircle the secretariat. Adequate police force was deployed to stop the leaders and workers even before they reached the roundabout.
When the leaders and workers tried to proceed through the roundabout, the police tried to stop them by using force. In order to stop the leaders and workers, the police also used lathis fiercely, in which many people got serious injuries.Along with lathi charge, the police also used water cannon and tear gas shells on the BJP workers. Due to the use of force by the police in this manner, there was chaos in the entire area. Due to running and due to police beating, the workers have also suffered serious injuries.
