The Telugu Desam Party MPs met and complained to Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Wednesday about the ongoing attacks and atrocities committed by the ruling YCP Ministers, MLAs and leaders in Andhra Pradesh showing utter disrespect to all the constitutional systems and institutions.
The TDP MPs appealed to Amit Shah about the urgent need for the Centre’s intervention to restore law and order to ensure a free and fair election in the state. This was the current need, taking into account non-stop attacks on the constitutional institution of the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission and unchecked false cases filed against opposition leaders and contesting candidates.
TDP MPs Galla Jayadev and Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar said that they have brought to the notice of the Union Home Minister how the YCP was resorting to attacks and atrocities on women, media, judges, weaker sections, opposition leaders, temples, as well as rival candidates in the panchayat elections. The YCP leaders were resorting to kidnappings and killings to prevent the rival candidates from filing nominations and contesting in the polls.
