India’s Covid-19 caseload has surpassed the 84 lakh-mark, while the number of people who have recovered from the disease has surged to 77.65 lakh, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.32 percent. However, the Health Ministry has warned that the risk of death due to Covid-19 is likely to increase with long-term exposure to air pollution.

In the last 24 hours, India’s total coronavirus cases mounted to 84,11,724 with 47,638 new infections being reported. The death toll also climbed to 1,24,985 with 670 new fatalities, but the case fatality rate stands at 1.49 percent. A total of 77,65,966 people have also recuperated from Covid-19 so far. The number of active Covid-19 cases remained below 6 lakhs for the eighth consecutive day. There are 5,20,773 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country as on date, which comprises 6.19 percent of the total caseload,

India’s worst-affected state, Maharashtra, reported 5027 new Covid-19 cases, 161 deaths and 11,060 dis charges in the last 24 hours. Total cases in the state rose to 17,10,314, including 15,62,342 recoveries and 44,965 deaths. Active cases stand at 1,02,099.

Karnataka reported 2960 new Covid-19 cases, 2701 discharges and 35 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of positive cases in the state increased to 8,41,889, including 7,97,204 discharges and 11,347 deaths. Active cases stand at 33,319.

Meanwhile, 7,002 fresh cases raised Kerala›s Covid-19 tally to 4,62,469 and the death toll to 1,640 with 27 more fatalities. The state’s active case count is at 83,208 currently.

In Haryana, 2,267 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total cases in the state to 1,78,413. Meanwhile,1,61,176 recoveries and 1,880 deaths have been reported till date. Active cases stand at 15,357.

With 2,187 fresh cases, the total Covid-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh went up to 4,93,527 while the death toll rose to 7,155 with 25 casualties in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases in the state stood at 23,132, of which 10,218 are in home isolation. So far, 4,63,240 people who had contracted the coronavirus have been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and the recovery rate in the state has now come to 94 percent.

Rajasthan recorded 11 more fatalities due to the novel coronavirus, pushing its death toll to 1,966. The infection count reached 2,07,597 in the state with 1,797 new cases. The number of active cases stands at 16,277.

Gujarat reported as many as 1,035 persons infected by the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 1,78,633. During the same period, four patients died due to the infection, taking the death toll to 3,751. But 1,321 patients also recovered during the day and were discharged from hospitals. The total tally of Covid-19 positive cases in Gujarat is now at 1,78,633, with 3,751 deaths, 1,62,846 discharged patients, and 12,036 active cases. Overall, 63,65,202 people have been tested so far in the state.

West Bengal reported 3942 new Covid-19 cases, 4283 discharges and 55 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total cases in the state rose to 3,97,466, including 3,54,732 discharges and 7,177 deaths. Active cases stand at 35,557.
