IGF’s Life-Changing Programs Break Barriers for Specially-Abled Individuals

Wheelchair users are often confined within four walls, invisible to society. In India, 2.2% of the population has disabilities, with nearly 20% facing mobility challenges—potential wheelchair users who often struggle with independence and inclusion.

IGF is changing this reality by empowering specially-abled individuals with mobility solutions, training, and employment opportunities. By providing motorized wheelchairs, a 7-15 day residential training program, and facilitating employment with platforms like Zomato and Swiggy, IGF has enabled thousands of men and women to earn a dignified livelihood, contribute to society, and live independently.

Infinite Possibilities: The Power of Inclusion

One of the most transformative ways to foster inclusion is by integrating individuals with disabilities into the workforce. Employment not only provides financial stability but also instills dignity, dramatically improving self-worth and mental well-being. When given the opportunity to contribute, challenges like accessibility barriers and social stigma take a backseat to the pride of being a productive member of the community.

A Life Transformed: Kailas Janam’s Journey

For Kailas Janam, life in Ulhasnagar was once filled with hard work and dreams. As a masala seller, he supported his family with pride—until a tragic accident changed everything. A severe spinal injury left him bedridden, robbing him of both mobility and independence. The past five years have been a battle, not just against physical pain but also the helplessness of being unable to provide for his loved ones. But hope arrived in the form of an electric bike, a gift from IGF and H&M. This simple yet life-changing support has given Kailas the freedom to move again, to earn, and most importantly, to regain his dignity. The joy of being able to support his family once more is immeasurable. With deep gratitude, Kailas thanks those who made this possible, proving that kindness and support can truly change lives.

For many wheelchair users, mobility beyond indoor spaces is a challenge. NeMo changes that by transforming a standard wheelchair into a three-wheeled electric ride designed for outdoor movement.

With its Quadra-Lock system, users can attach it within seconds—no need to transfer between devices. The 250W motor ensures a smooth ride at speeds of up to 25 km/h, while the 48V lithium-ion battery provides a 25 km range on a single charge. For specially-abled individuals working in food delivery, NeMo is a game-changer, allowing seamless travel between home, offices, and delivery locations.

NeMo is engineered for stability and ease of use, featuring:
Ergonomic handlebars for full control of speed, braking, and reverse mode.
Pneumatic tubeless tires and suspension for a smooth ride across various terrains.
Side anti-tippers for added safety.
Overcharge and short-circuit protection for battery longevity.

More than just a mobility device, NeMo represents freedom, dignity, and limitless possibilities for wheelchair users.

IGF follows a structured livelihood training program designed to equip specially-abled individuals with essential skills for employment, financial independence, and self-sufficiency.

Key components include:
Communication & Social Skills: Training in verbal and non-verbal communication, assertiveness, emotional intelligence, and teamwork to boost confidence.
Employment Readiness: Hands-on experience with app navigation, order fulfillment, customer handling, and workplace safety for independent work.
Motorized Wheelchair Training: Road safety awareness, preventive maintenance, and practical driving lessons for enhanced mobility.
Financial Literacy & Government Support: Information on Accessible India Campaign schemes and financial planning to secure long-term stability.

By integrating assistive technology, corporate partnerships, and targeted skill development, IGF empowers individuals to break free from dependency and lead fulfilling lives.

This is just one of the many impactful programs IGF is leading. From healthcare access and financial empowerment to menstrual health, environmental sustainability, and disability inclusion, IGF continues to break barriers and create lasting change across India. By addressing critical social challenges through innovative and scalable initiatives, IGF remains committed to building a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
