Haryana records 7.3 degrees drop in temperature, red alert for cold day issued by Met dept

Haryana is currently in the grip of bone-chilling cold, with a substantial drop of 7.3 degrees Celsius recorded in maximum temperatures over the last 24 hours. Consequently, the state is witnessing extremely cold days. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for cold days on Monday.

The alert covers 11 districts of the state, including Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Mewat, Palwal, and Faridabad.

Weather experts suggest that the active Western disturbance and the influence of northwesterly winds are the main reasons behind the extreme cold conditions in the state.

Additionally, the circulation of cold waves due to northwesterly winds, coupled with the intermittent movement of moist south-southeasterly and southwesterly winds, is causing continuous weather changes. During this period, Panchkula recorded a maximum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the state.

In addition, Kurukshetra recorded 9.7 degrees, Ambala 10.3 degrees, Hisar 11.0 degrees, and Karnal 10.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Mahendragarh recorded the minimum temperature at 2.2 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the state.

In addition, Hisar recorded 2.8 degrees, Nuh 3.1 degrees, Faridabad 3.5 degrees, and Fatehabad and Gurugram recorded 4.6 degrees Celsius.
