Panchkula: The Haryana Masters Athletics Team secured a commendable third place in the 5th National Masters Athletics Championship held in Hyderabad. A delegation of 150 athletes from the Haryana Masters Athletics Association, led by Captain Mahavir Singh Talian, showcased their talent at the Telangana event from February 8 to 11.
Atul Garg, the head of the Haryana Masters Athletics Association, praised the athletes for their outstanding performance. Captain Mahavir Singh Talian led the Haryana team, which participated in various categories, demonstrating that age is no barrier to sportsmanship.
The overall champions were Telangana, followed by Kerala in second place, and Haryana secured the third position. The men’s category saw Telangana securing the first position, Haryana in second, and Kerala in third place.
Atul Garg, encouraging all participants, played a crucial role in rallying the athletes for the Athletics Championship. The competition witnessed outstanding achievements, with Jhajjar’s Ram Bai winning three gold medals, Paramindar Singh securing a silver medal in hammer throw for participants over 60 years, and Satyapal winning a bronze medal for participants over 65 years.
Ram Kishor Sharma also graced the occasion, contributing to the success and spirit of the Haryana Masters Athletics Team.
