Fog persists in Chandigarh, IMD issues orange alert

Chandigarh awoke to yet another morning veiled in dense fog on Monday, following the previous day’s recording of the season’s coldest temperatures. With the mercury hovering at 7.4 degrees Celsius, mirroring Sunday’s wintry conditions, the city continued to grapple with a thick blanket of fog, significantly impacting visibility and creating a persistently chilly atmosphere.

In response to these weather patterns, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has taken action by issuing an orange alert. This alert signifies the heightened possibility of very dense fog forming at isolated locations and the continuation of severe cold day conditions at certain spots across Chandigarh.

The orange alert, ranked as the second-highest in the IMD’s four-level alert system, serves as a cautionary advisory for residents. It prompts individuals to remain vigilant and adequately prepared for the ongoing weather conditions that may significantly impact daily activities and travel.
