In relation to the accident in Maharashtra’s Palghar district in September of this year that claimed the life of industrialist Cyrus Mistry, a first information report (FIR) was filed against renowned obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Anahita Pandole.
The FIR was filed by the Palghar Police based on the Mercedes Benz final report following their examination of the data chip in the vehicle and a statement obtained from Dr. Pandole’s spouse Darius earlier this week.
The Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act were used to justify Dr. Pandole’s arrest on suspicion of causing death by hasty and careless driving.
On September 4 of this year, Dr. Pandole, Darius, and Mistry were travelling from Gujarat to Mumbai in a Mercedes Benz when the gynaecologist lost control and slammed into a concrete wall. Jahangir Pandole, Mistry’s friend, and Darius’ brother perished in the collision.
While Darius was released from the hospital earlier this week, Dr. Pandole is still receiving treatment at a facility in Mumbai. At his home in South Mumbai on Tuesday, Darius recorded his statement to the police.
Darius told police that his wife could not merge the vehicle into the second lane from the third lane of the road that turned narrow near the Surya river bridge in Maharashtra’s Palghar, an official said.
