Farmers to Approach Non-BJP MPs on July 7 to Raise Issues in Parliament

This initiative aims to have their issues addressed in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, starting July 22.

On July 7, thousands of farmers under the banners of Sayunkt Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha will submit a memorandum to non-BJP MPs across 12-13 states, urging lawmakers to introduce a Private Member’s Bill guaranteeing a minimum support price (MSP) for all crops. This initiative aims to have their issues addressed in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, starting July 22.

The farmers plan to deliver the memorandums to MPs in various states: 13 MPs in Punjab, 5 locations in Haryana, 11 locations in Rajasthan, 20 locations in Uttar Pradesh, 2 locations in Madhya Pradesh, 6 locations in Bihar, and additional locations in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.

The farmers also urge the Prime Minister and Finance Minister to allocate a special budget for the MSP guarantee law, debt waivers for farmers, diesel subsidies, and research funding for new seed varieties. They emphasize the importance of providing seeds based on domestic research rather than relying on corporate-provided seeds developed abroad.

Additionally, they call for budget provisions to support cooperative farming and river interlinking projects to improve water resource management.

In a video message, farmer leader Pandher mentioned that they will observe the responses from MPs on July 8 regarding their assurances to farmer representatives.

Pandher also appealed to farmers nationwide to join in submitting the memorandums to MPs, expressing hope for special budget provisions to address the long-standing demands of farmers, who have been protesting and camping at the Shambhu border.
