Expansion of Tulip garden enhances tourist attractions

The Department of Floriculture is gearing up to unveil new attractions at Asia’s largest Tulip garden, as Commissioner Secretary Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad announced the addition of five new tulip varieties and the installation of multi-activity equipment for children in seven new parks.

During a meeting convened at the Civil Secretariat, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, along with senior officials including Director Floriculture Kashmir, discussed strategies to further enhance the allure of the Tulip Garden and improve recreational facilities across parks in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad emphasized the department’s commitment to elevating the visitor experience at the Tulip Garden, which is a significant tourist draw for Jammu and Kashmir. He announced the inclusion of five new tulip varieties, expanding the total count to 73, promising visitors an enchanting display of colors and fragrances.
With 1.7 million tulips set to bloom this year, preparations are underway to ensure a seamless experience for tourists. The department has expanded the garden area and added additional parking space to accommodate the anticipated influx of visitors.

Highlighting the importance of maintenance and improvement works, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad urged officials to expedite civil works and ensure all facilities, including washrooms, are in top condition across parks and gardens.

Director Floriculture Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Rather, underscored the department’s commitment to providing safe and enjoyable recreational spaces for children. He directed officials to closely monitor children’s equipment to prevent accidents, emphasizing prompt replacement of any damaged equipment to ensure children’s safety.

The meeting concluded with a directive to complete all ongoing works promptly, with the Director Floriculture tasked with overseeing execution to meet established timelines.

The additions and improvements in the Tulip Garden and parks across the region aim to enhance the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir, offering visitors memorable experiences amidst the natural beauty and recreational amenities provided by the Floriculture Department.
