Divisional Commissioner Announces Open Access to Independence Day Events and Balidan Stambh Memorial

Kashmir: In a significant announcement ahead of Independence Day, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Bhiduri, declared on Thursday that prior permission is not required to attend the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Residents of Jammu and Kashmir, including families with children, are encouraged to participate freely in the celebrations.

Speaking to the media after reviewing ongoing work at the Balidan Stambh memorial at Pratap Park in Lal Chowk, the Divisional Commissioner emphasized that the event is open to everyone, without the need for special permissions. Bhiduri noted that the Balidan Stambh, a monument dedicated to martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation, will also be accessible to the general public by August 15.

“This year, we are extending a warm, open invitation to all the people of Kashmir to join the Independence Day celebrations. There is no requirement for any special permission; simply bring along an identity card. I encourage families to attend with their children to make this day memorable,” said Bhiduri.

He also addressed public queries about attending the event, stating, “I have received numerous requests for permissions to participate in the celebrations. However, I want to clarify that no such permissions are necessary. This year’s celebration is for everyone, and we welcome all citizens to join us on time.”

The Divisional Commissioner further mentioned that the Balidan Stambh will serve as a focal point for the celebrations, where people can pay their respects to the martyrs who laid down their lives in service to the nation. The decision to make the memorial accessible to the public aligns with the administration’s efforts to honor the sacrifices made by the nation’s heroes.

The announcement has been welcomed by the local population, many of whom see it as an opportunity to participate more actively in the national celebrations. The administration is expecting a large turnout at the Independence Day venue, reflecting the enthusiasm and patriotic spirit of the people of Kashmir.
