As part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, a dance drama based on the life of social reformer Raja Rammohun Roy will be shown at Kartavya Path and India Gate (Central Vista) on Saturday and Sunday.

According to a release from the Ministry of Culture on Saturday, the performance, titled “Yugpurush Raja Rammohun Roy,” is based on the topic “Nari Samman” and is being organised by the Raja Ram Mohun Roy Library Foundation. The audience will become intimately familiar with Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s tremendous accomplishments, lofty beliefs, and way of life through the dance play based on his life.

The performance will commence at 6 o’clock on Saturday and Sunday, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Earlier, as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a year-long commemoration of Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s 250th birthday was inaugurated by the Ministry of Culture.

This audio-visual show is also a part of a campaign that calls for weekly cultural events to be held in Central Vista.

The event will feature 40 artists and be directed by well-known choreographer Neelay Sengupta, according to the release.

Raja Rammohun Roy, who was born in Radhanagar, Bengal, on May 22, 1772, made a significant contribution to India’s political, social, and religious reforms. He was the Brahmo Samaj’s founder and always pushed for a contemporary, scientific approach.
