Centre asks AAP on Satyendar Jain’s ‘special treatment’ in Tihar

The Union home Ministry has asked for a report from Delhi chief secretary on claims that Satyendar Jain, an AAP leader who is currently imprisoned was colluding with Tihar jail staff, according to source.

The Enforcement Directorate told a Special Delhi Court on Monday that Satyendar Jain arrested in connection with a money laundering case, is being given “special treatment” inside Tihar Jail. The agency also submitted CCTV footage of Satyendar Jain purportedly receiving a body massage from an unidentified person inside his cell.

The AAP leader received fruits and salads right in his cell, according to the ED.

According to the agency, co-defendant Ankush Jain oversaw the cleaning, mopping, and scrubbing of Jain’s cell by an unidentified someone.

The Delhi government’s Department of Delhi Prisons oversees Tihar Jail.

Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is currently incarcerated on charges of money laundering involving over 200 crores and to which Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has also been connected, wrote to Delhi Lieutenant Governor alleging that he had paid Satyendar Jain 10 crore in 2019 to ensure his safety while he was incarcerated.

According to the letter, the AAP received more than 50 crore on the condition that Chandrashekhar would be granted a key position in the South Zone of the party and be assisted in receiving a nomination for the Rajya Sabha. He claimed that Jain, who was in charge of the Jail ministry, questioned him about whether or not he had divulged anything about his support for the AAP to the investigating body.
