Purnea MP Pappu Yadav has called for a statewide ‘Bihar Bandh’ on January 12 to protest the alleged paper leak in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Preliminary Exam. He urged for collective support to address the grievances of affected students and aspirants across the state. Yadav commended the Bihar Governor for acknowledging the concerns and assuring a high-level investigation into the incident, including action against the accused.
Yadav said, “The Governor listened to us patiently and assured that no injustice will be done to the students. I have demanded a thorough probe into the paper leak and an inquiry against all accused. The authorities have assured us of a high-level investigation.” He emphasized that the bandh is apolitical and called on everyone to participate in support of the students.
Earlier, the Supreme Court declined to entertain a petition alleging malpractice during the 70th BPSC Preliminary Exam held on December 13, 2024. The bench, led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, advised the petitioner to approach the Patna High Court. The petitioner’s counsel, representing the Anand Legal Aid Forum Trust, criticized Bihar police for allegedly using force on peaceful protesters who demanded the exam’s cancellation.
On a related note, Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor was granted unconditional bail in Patna after being briefly detained for refusing to pay a bail bond. Kishor had been fasting since January 2 to protest BPSC irregularities. Addressing students post-release, he emphasized the power of collective action and reiterated his support for the aspirants’ demands to cancel the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, citing alleged question paper leaks.
