BJP plans massive virtual rallies to celebrate first anniversary of Modi 2.0

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to celebrate the first anniversary of the Modi government on 30 May. The party has announced that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no big gatherings or rallies; instead, digital and virtual outreach programmes will be organised to highlight the achievements of the government.

BJP national president J.P. Nadda has sought a three-pronged approach to celebrate the occasion. The three points of the approach include: personal contact, digital connect and virtual interaction. In its first approach, i.e. personal contact, party workers will deliver letters written by Prime minister Narendra Modi to 10 crore households and will make them pledge to work for “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and also focus on the containment of the deadly virus. The party has asked its workers to be in a team of two and to avoid containment zones.

All morchas will distribute masks and sanitizers. Apart from these, press conferences will be conducted in around 150 media centres detailing about the achievements of the Modi government. In its next approach, digital connect, the BJP president will address party cadres via Facebook live. The party has directed its workers to make WhatsApp groups for every booth from 27-29 May.

A special edition of Kamal Sandesh will talk about the government’s achievements and will be widely shared on all digital platforms. Small videos on the Modi government’s relief measures during the pandemic, translated in regional languages, will also be circulated on social media. Through virtual interaction, which is the final approach, digital rallies will be held across the country.

There will be at least two rallies in bigger states and one rally in smaller states, with a minimum of 750 attendees. One thousand virtual conferences will be done by national and state BJP leaders. The duration of these interactions will be around 60 minutes (40 minutes for speaker, 20 minutes for interaction).

Every morcha will do video conferencing with 500 groups to highlight works done by Modi 2.0 BJP national general secretary Arun Singh has written a letter to his party officials about how the party intends to celebrate this event and termed this year of Modi government as a year of fulfilment of promises, including abrogation of Article 370, formation of separate Union Territory of Ladakh, abolishment of Triple Talaq, construction of Ram temple, etc.
