Andhra Pradesh inks land survey pact with Survey of India

HYDERABAD: The government of Andhra Pradesh has signed an MoU with the Survey of India to embark on the initiative of comprehensive resurvey of the land in Andhra Pradesh. A first-of-its-kind initiative in the country, it will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on 21 December.  

Aiming to streamline the land records management system in the state, the state government will begin a full-fledged resurvey and digitization of lands in urban and rural areas covering 1.26 lakh sq km in a total of 17, 460 villages across the state.

Under Phase 1, the government is set to take up 5,000 villages which will tentatively be completed by June 2021. The digitisation of land records will eliminate any scope for manipulation, which has become a significant menace after the bifurcation of the state. The government is likely to rope in modern technologies such as drones, aerial photography, and mobile workstations to conduct the resurvey.

A land titling card, which consists of a unique identification number, measurements of the property, name of the owner, the photo, and total area, along with a QR code will be provided to the owner after the survey. Digitised cadastral maps will be prepared after the completion of the survey. All details of the lands in the village will be on the maps. Survey stones would be installed once the marking of land is completed.

An integrated service delivery of the survey, registration and the revenue will work on digitised property register and title register and a register for complaints that will made available at the village secretariats.

The government has decided over setting up close to 70 base stations which is a part of the Survey of India network. The government is planning to constitute as many as 4,500 teams who will work in areas such as designing the boundary marker stones, arranging base stations and 660 mobile tribunals for the state-wide resurvey programme which will use drones in a big way.

The government will also be roping in 14,000 professional trainers to provide the training for using drones and other allied equipment. As of now, 9,400 village surveyor trainers are being trained on conventional survey and advanced survey technology. Each mandal will have one drone team, one data processing team and one resurvey team.

Speaking further on the launch, CM Jagan said that this survey will go down in history with the government making all preparations to conduct the Phase 1 of the massive land survey from 21 December. ‘There has been a lot of false propaganda on the land survey by the TDP. As a part of publicity, to create more awareness, the village/ward secretariat volunteers will head door-to-door campaign from 7 to 11 December,” the CM said.
