Haryana takes center stage in the Delhi government’s efforts to combat air pollution as it imposes strict regulations for buses entering the national capital.
Effective November 1, only electric, CNG, and BS-VI diesel buses from Haryana will be allowed to enter Delhi. This landmark decision reflects the commitment to addressing the critical issue of air quality in the region, particularly as Haryana shares a significant border with Delhi, making it a key player in mitigating pollution.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) mandates these stringent regulations to tackle the adverse effects of diesel-powered buses, and it applies to the entire National Capital Region (NCR), which includes Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. As a result, this policy change signifies a major shift toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions.
Starting July 1 next year, all buses from Haryana to Delhi must meet these new standards, encompassing electric, CNG, and BS-VI diesel propulsion.
