Already dealing with the problem due to the incident of burning of a Chariot at Antarvedi Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, the Jaganmohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh is facing another tension resulting from removal of statues of TDP founder late N.T. Rama Rao and former MLA Paritala Ravindra.
Tension prevailed in Vinukonda town of Guntur district of the state after the removal of statues of both the leaders Saturday night. Former MlA from Vinukonda and TdP Guntur district president G.V. Anjaneyulu, was placed under house arrest following attempts to hold protests against the removal of the statues. Vinukonda police said that the statues, which were installed on the banks of Perumalla branch canal, were removed based on the order of the high Court. The TDP leaders allege that there are many statues of late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy (father of the present CM Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy) which were constructed illegally. he questioned why they were not removed.
Chandrababu’s son Nara Lokesh, TDP MLC, said, “It is atrocious that the statues of late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and the late Shri Paritala Ravindra are being removed in Vinukonda constituency of Guntur district. “I strongly condemn the house arrest of the TDP senior leader G.V. Anjaneyulu who questioned the removal of statues.”
The YSRCP leaders too hit back at the TDP leaders. YSRCP young leader and irrigation minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav said, “Chandrababu Naidu has no issues left to raise. Our chief minister is working for the development and welfare of the state. Naidu faced a massive defeat in the previous election and this time TdP will be wiped off. now people are aware of Naidu’s dirty tricks and have faith in our chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy.”
