A surge in theft incidents is gripping the capital city, Jaipur, with a distinctive pattern emerging as a gang of women becomes increasingly involved in significant thefts. Employing cunning tactics, this female gang coordinates their activities using signals like honking.
A recent high-profile theft unfolded in the Mahesh Nagar area, revealing a modus operandi characterized by precision and quick execution. In this incident, a group of 5-6 women effortlessly lifted the heavy iron shutter of a shop within 10 to 15 seconds.
Subsequently, one of the women, skillfully manoeuvring through the narrow opening, entered the shop. The synchronized operation unfolded as the women lingered around, and upon receiving a signal, lifted the shutter again, making a swift exit. The entire theft transpired in a mere 13 minutes, with the activities meticulously captured on the shop’s CCTV footage.
The targeted shop, an incense store, fell victim to this gang of female thieves 15 days ago. Breaking into the shop at 4 a.m., the women expertly raised the shutter, entered, broke the locker, and absconded with a substantial sum of 1.75 lakh rupees in cash. The theft was discovered by the shop owner upon his arrival at 10 AM to open the store.
The CCTV footage inside and outside the shop chronicles the events. At 3:56 am on December 23, a group of 6-7 women, shrouded in shawls, approached the shop, loitering around for some time.
Demonstrating their agility, two women covered the shop shutter with their shawls, while 3-4 others grabbed the shutter, tearing it away due to the absence of a central lock. A thin woman from the group skillfully entered the shop through the torn shutter.
Inside the shop, the female thief broke into the vault, making off with 1.75 lakh rupees. To signal the completion of the theft, she honked the horn, prompting the other women to cover the shutter once again and create a gap for her to exit. The gang swiftly dispersed on foot after the successful heist.
Following the shop owner’s report, the Mahesh Nagar police have initiated a theft investigation, relying on CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the gang of female thieves.
A similar incident occurred last year in the Murlipura area, reinforcing the need for heightened vigilance against such criminal activities.
