In a dramatic incident in Thailand, a 64-year-old woman, identified as Arom, was rescued after being strangled by a python for more than two hours. The attack occurred at her home on the outskirts of Bangkok, where Arom was performing household chores.

According to Arom’s account in a police video obtained by CNN, she initially felt several bites on her leg before the python struck, coiling tightly around her body. Despite her frantic efforts to escape, she was unable to free herself as the snake constricted its grip.

Arom’s cries for help eventually reached a neighbor, who alerted the police. Upon arrival, authorities found Arom on the floor, tightly ensnared by the large python. Police Major Sergeant Anusorn Wongmalee described the scene as shocking, noting the snake’s substantial size.

Rescue efforts took approximately 30 minutes, after which Arom was transported to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the python managed to escape and elude capture.

Thailand, home to around 250 snake species including reticulated, Burmese, and Blood pythons, has seen a number of incidents involving snake bites. Last year, approximately 12,000 people in Thailand received treatment for snake and animal bites, with 26 fatalities reported.

This incident follows another recent python attack in Thailand, where a man had his testicle bitten by a python while in his bathroom.
