Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani was awarded the ‘Citizen of Mumbai’ Award 2023-24 by the Rotary Club of Bombay for her contributions to healthcare, education, sports, arts, and culture.
In addition, she spearheads the ‘Education and Sports for All’ initiative, dedicated to fostering children’s growth. Additionally, Ambani holds ownership of MI New York, the victorious team in the inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC) season, a prestigious American T20 league. Notably, she stands as the pioneering Indian woman to secure a seat on the International Olympic Committee.
Nita Ambani has also made history by becoming the first Indian to be elected as an Honorary Trustee of the Board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, a significant achievement for the businesswoman and philanthropist.
Aside from her work in the arts, Nita Ambani is also dedicated to providing affordable and high-quality medical care to all Indians through the Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Mumbai. This hospital is committed to improving healthcare outcomes and ensuring that medical treatment is accessible to those in need.
Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, founded and chaired by Nita Ambani aims to preserve and promote Indian arts with a vision to create a platform where communities from India and around the world could come together, showcase their talents, and learn about each other’s cultures.Continuing the saga of bringing global performances and artists onto the Indian stage, the centre is bringing the world-famous musical Mamma Mia! to India in November. Written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, the musical is based on songs recorded by Swedish band ABBA.
During September, the center showcased a number of notable performances including a special performance by Pandit Nayan Ghosh, an award-winning tabla master, and his ensemble.
