The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at multiple locations in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) in Maharashtra, resulting in the arrest of an individual linked to the ISIS Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar module case. The operation targeted a conspiracy to attack vital installations.
The arrested individual, identified as Mohammed Zoheb Khan, had a case registered against him by the NIA Mumbai unit. The case was initiated based on information indicating that Khan and his associates had pledged allegiance to the ISIS Khalifa and were planning to target various establishments.
During the raids at nine locations, NIA teams confiscated several electronic gadgets and incriminating documents related to the case. The anti-terror agency alleges that the group not only planned attacks but also engaged in radicalizing and recruiting susceptible youth through physical and social media channels to join ISIS and propagate its violent ideology.
NIA investigations revealed that the accused and other suspects maintained constant communication with foreign-based handlers to advance the activities of the global terror network in India and abroad. They shared incriminating videos related to ‘Bayath,’ along with materials promoting violent jihad and Hijrah to Syria.
The case remains under investigation by the NIA.
