YOGA A ‘RAY OF HOPE’ IN THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19: PM MODI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at a virtual event commemorating the seventh International Yoga Day. PM Modi stated that yoga is “a ray of hope” in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and that his excitement for it has not waned. He claimed that when coronavirus arrived, the world was not prepared, but that yoga became a wonderful source of self-confidence at the moment.

Prime Minister Modi said, “I want that every country, every society, and every individual be healthy.” Let us band together to be one other’s pillars of strength. ‘Samatvam yoga uchate’ was the definition of yoga taught by our sages and sages. Yoga has shown it today, in the midst of a worldwide disaster, he added.

PM Modi remarked, referring to the corona epidemic, 2,846,000 “When the invisible virus of corona had knocked in the world, no country was ready for it, in terms of logistics, strength, and mental state. We’ve all seen how yoga become a fantastic source of self-confidence in such trying situations.”

He said, “In these one and a half years of corona, how many countries including

India have faced a big crisis. For most of the countries of the world, Yoga Day is not their age-old cultural festival. In this difficult time, in so much trouble, people could easily forget it, ignore it, but on the contrary, the enthusiasm of yoga has increased in people. Love for yoga has increased. In the last one and a half years, lakhs of new yoga seekers have come up in every corner of the world.”

The Prime Minister added, “When I speak with the doctors, who are frontline warriors, they say that yoga has been their protective shield in the fight against corona. Doctors used yoga to strengthen themselves and to assist their patients recover quickly. How many of these photos do we see nowadays from hospitals where doctors and nurses are teaching yoga to patients.”

In his address, PM Modi announced the introduction of the M-Yoga app. Yoga will be taught in a variety of languages using this app. India has developed the M-Yoga app in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). 

The Prime Minister added that when India suggested International Yoga Day at the United Nations, the spirit behind it was that this science of Yoga should be accessible to the entire world. He stated that today, India took another major step in this direction by collaborating with the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO), and that now the world will benefit from the M-Yoga app’s potential. Many videos of yoga training in other languages will be available in this app, all based on the same yoga protocol.
