Brazilian football sensation Neymar has been left a staggering legacy of £846 million (approximately Rs 10,077 crore) by a recently passed away Brazilian tycoon, according to reports. The businessman, who has been identified but not named, never met Neymar face to face but had great respect for him from a distance.

Why Was Neymar Chosen As the Sole Heir?

The billionaire, who died without a family of his own, willed all his wealth to Neymar. Sources from Brazilian media indicate that the man “identified with Neymar on a personal level” and was touched, in particular, by the footballer’s close relationship with his father. This family arrangement, witnesses say, reminded the billionaire of his own childhood.

The will was said to have been formalised on June 12 in Porto Alegre before two witnesses and subsequently certified by the authorities.

What Are Neymar’s Legal Obstacles?

Despite the will naming Neymar as the only beneficiary, the Brazilian courts are still required to issue proper clearance before the inheritance is passed. Until then, Neymar cannot be legally recognised as the heir of the billionaire.

The star striker has yet to make any public comment on the news of his incredible inheritance.

Neymar’s Current Status in Football

The news comes at a pivotal moment for the 33-year-old striker. Neymar, having come back to Santos following high-profile spells at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), recently incurred a muscle injury during training. His club confirmed the disappointment last Thursday.

In the meantime, even though Brazil had already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, senior players such as Neymar, Vinícius Júnior, and Rodrygo have been rested from the current squad by head coach Carlo Ancelotti. “We don’t need to test him,” Ancelotti minimized Neymar’s absence.

Brazil is third in South American qualifying and has Chile to play at the Maracanã before it travels to Bolivia for its next game.

What does this Inheritance Portend for Neymar’s future?

If true, Neymar’s inheritance will see him become one of the richest sportsmen in the world, adding to a fortune already built through football deals, endorsements, and business transactions.

Until now, fans and the media have been waiting for confirmation and Neymar’s response to what will amount to possibly one of the most curious and astonishing inheritances in contemporary sports history.
