Bangladesh cricket star Shakib Al Hasan has achieved something no all-rounder has ever done before in T20 cricket. The former Bangladesh captain is now the first player in history to score more than 7,000 runs and take over 500 wickets in the shortest format of the game.
He accomplished this feat while participating in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 with the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
Historic CPL 2025 Moment
In a match against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Shakib bowled brilliantly, taking 3 wickets for just 11 runs. His performance helped the Falcons win by seven wickets. Shakib became the only player to reach 7,000 runs or more and take 500 wickets in T20 cricket with this spell, which saw him surpass the 500-wicket milestone.
The victory also took the Falcons to the top of the CPL 2025 points table, with three wins, one no-result, and two losses from six games. Once again, Shakib showed why he is considered one of the greatest match-winners in the world.

Fifth Bowler to Reach 500 Wickets
Shakib also became a member of the select group of bowlers who have taken 500 or more T20 wickets. Only Imran Tahir, Sunil Naraine, Dwayne Bravo, and Rashid Khan had done it before him. The accomplishment is made even more noteworthy by the fact that he is the first left-arm bowler to accomplish this feat.
Currently, Rashid Khan leads the list with 660 wickets, followed by Bravo (631), Narine (590), and Tahir (554). Shakib, with 502 wickets, now sits in fifth place.
Shakib’s All-Round Numbers
In his T20 career, Shakib has scored 7,574 runs and taken 502 wickets. In T20 competitions, he has earned nine Player of Series honours, more than Wanindu Hasaranga (7) and Virat Kohli(8) combined. Shakib’s balance of runs and wickets puts him in a class of his own.
Ahead of Virat Kohli in T20 Records
Shakib’s success isn’t just about runs and wickets. He has won nine Player of the Series awards in T20 tournaments — more than Virat Kohli (8) and Wanindu Hasaranga (7).

He is also the only spinner in T20 history with five five-wicket hauls, a record shared with Lasith Malinga, Imran Tahir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Only David Wiese is ahead with seven five-fors.
Cementing His Legacy
Shakib Al Hasan has always represented Bangladesh cricket, but this record takes his career to new level. He became the first player in T20 cricket history to take more than 500 wickets and score more than 7,000 runs.
