India continued its strong performance at the Para Athletics Championships, with Navdeep Singh and Simran Singh shining in their respective events on Sunday, October 5. Navdeep won a silver medal in the men’s Javelin Throw F41 final, while Simran clinched silver in the women’s 200m T12 race. Both athletes displayed grit, consistency, and determination, adding to India’s growing medal tally.
Navdeep Singh Wins Silver in Javelin Throw F41 Final
Navdeep Singh, one of India’s top para javelin throwers, threw a distance of 45.46 metres in his third attempt to secure the silver medal. His powerful throw came after two steady attempts, and his celebration right after the throw has gone viral on social media.

The 24-year-old athlete had previously won a gold medal for India at the Paralympics last year. However, this time, he had to settle for silver as Iran’s Sadegh Beit Sayah recorded a massive 48.86 metres, earning him the gold.
Navdeep’s fourth attempt measured 44.87 metres, while his final two throws were fouls. Despite that, his third attempt remained his season’s best performance. Competing in the F41 category, which includes athletes with short stature, Navdeep’s consistent performance added another proud moment for India.
Simran Singh Wins Silver in Women’s 200m T12 Event.
India’s Simran Singh continued her impressive form with a silver medal in the women’s 200m T12 event, her second medal of the tournament. Earlier, she had bagged gold in the 100m T12 race on Friday with an Asian record and a personal best time of 11.95 seconds.
Running her sixth sprint in just two days, Simran clocked 24.46 seconds in the 200m final — another personal best performance. Initially, she was placed third behind Venezuela’s Alejandra Perez Lopez and Brazil’s Clara Barros de Silva (24.42 seconds). However, after Alejandra was disqualified under Rule R7.10.4 of the World Para Athletics (WPA) regulations, Simran moved up to second place and officially claimed the silver.
The rule states that “an athlete will be disqualified if they or their guide runner fail to comply with the rules for using a tether.” Simran, who has a visual impairment, runs with the assistance of a sighted guide throughout her races.
India’s Para Athletes Shine Bright
With Navdeep’s silver and Simran’s back-to-back medals, India’s para-athletes continue to showcase world-class talent. Their performances have brought immense pride to the country, inspiring many to pursue sports despite challenges.
Navdeep’s viral celebration and Simran’s tireless determination perfectly reflect the spirit of Indian para sports — strong, passionate, and unstoppable.
