The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the final list of 369 players for the IPL 2026 auction, scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi. Franchises will compete to fill 77 available squad slots, including 31 reserved for overseas players, as they prepare for the Indian Premier League’s 19th season.

This year’s auction list was expanded at the last minute when the BCCI added 19 players just hours before bidding began — an unprecedented move so close to the event.

IPL 2026 Auction Details

The IPL auction takes place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on December 16, 2025. All 10 franchises will look to build balanced squads, combining experience and young talent. With only 77 slots up for grabs, teams must be strategic about their choices.

How the Player Pool Was Finalised?

Out of around 1,390 registered players, a shortlist of 350 was initially created. Just before the auction, the BCCI added 19 more names, taking the total to 369 players.

This list includes a mix of domestic stars, established overseas talents and promising uncapped players. Franchises will look to use their budgets wisely, balancing key skills for batting, bowling and all-round performance.

Several big names — including Cameron Green, Venkatesh Iyer and David Miller — are expected to attract heavy bidding due to their multi-role abilities and match-winning potential.

Franchises are also watching uncapped players closely. Names like Nikhil Chaudhary and players from domestic circuits have generated buzz ahead of the auction.

Once the auction concludes, teams will finalise their squads for the IPL 2026 season, beginning on March 26, 2026, and running through May 31, 2026, as part of the regular IPL calendar.

The auction will shape team compositions and strategies for the upcoming season, with fans and experts closely watching results to predict team performances.
