India’s shooting duo Saurabh Chaudhary and teenage sensation Suruchi Inder Singh secured a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Shooting Championships on Wednesday. They defeated the Chinese Taipei pair of Liu Heng-Yu and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen with a convincing score of 17-9.

This medal adds to India’s tally after Manu Bhaker, a two-time Olympic medallist, claimed an individual bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol a day earlier.

How the Indian Pair Qualified

Chaudhary and Suruchi entered the medal round in fifth place after the qualification stage.

  • Suruchi impressed with a total of 292 points, beginning strongly with a flawless 100 in her opening series, slipping slightly with 94 in the second series, and closing with a 98.

  • Chaudhary delivered consistent scores of 95, 96, and 95, finishing with 286 points.

Together, they posted an aggregate of 578, which was enough to place them fifth among eight teams that progressed to the medal round.

Suruchi’s Rising Form

Suruchi has been one of India’s standout performers this season. The teenager has already collected four World Cup medals, showcasing her growing maturity and potential on the international stage.
