KL Rahul will be leading the ODI series, while Rishabh Pant,vice-captain, returns to the lineup, bringing together tactical knowledge and leadership experience for stability at the top.

India’s Squad for ODI Series Against South Africa

Here is the 15-member squad for the three ODIs against South Africa:

Batsmen: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Kumar Reddy

Wicketkeepers: KL Rahul (captain), Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel

This selection combines experience of seasoned campaigners with the emerging talent, thus making India an all-rounded unit for the series.

Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli Comeback in Series Against South Africa

One of the major talking points concerning this squad is the inclusion of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. After recent performances against Australia, they proved that they can still offer a lot in the 50-over format.

Rohit smashed an unbeaten 121 off 105 balls in the third and final ODI in Sydney, with Kohli playing an able supporting role with 74 not out. Together they shared a 168-run partnership to help India chase down 237 with more than 11 overs to spare.

Rohit’s ton was his 33rd ODI century, while he became the first Indian to breach the 1,000-run mark in ODIs against Australia in Australia. As for Kohli, the knock restored confidence after two earlier failures in this series. Their return strengthens India’s top order and gives the team a solid platform going into the South Africa series.

India vs South Africa Ongoing Test Series

India are engaged in a two-match Test series against South Africa, starting from November 14, 2025. This is an important Test leg since the South African side is pretty strong. By rotating players across formats, India is testing its bench strength while keeping the senior players fresh for critical times.

India vs South Africa T20I Series

The ODIs end on December 6, after which India and South Africa will move into a five-match T20I series scheduled from December 9 to December 19, 2025, with games across Cuttack, Mullanpur, Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad.
