The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced a historic women’s-only worldwide partnership with Google with the objective of expanding fan engagement and accessibility in women’s cricket across the globe.
Partnership to Increase Fan Engagement
The partnership will witness the ICC tap into Google’s cutting-edge technology and passion for promoting women’s sport. The project aims to enrich the fan experience to be more vibrant, rich, and interactive.
The alliance is timely for women’s cricket, with two premier international events in the pipeline: the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India and Sri Lanka and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales.
The partnership also follows the ICC’s previous announcement of Unilever as its first worldwide women’s partner, adding further stimulus to the growth and exposure of the women’s game.
Google Products for an Improved Experience
Improving the fan experience in women’s cricket and making it more dynamic, accessible and relevant will be Google products such as Android, Google Gemini, Google Pay, and Google Pixel. This connected ecosystem has been constructed to get fans closer to the game’s pivotal moments, players, and narratives, building on each phase of the fan journey from match highlight discovery to celebrations of victory.
ICC’s Women’s Cricket Vision
“With this collaboration with Google, we mark a historic milestone for women’s cricket and reinforce our intention to carry the women’s game to new heights,” ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed.
“By leveraging Google’s cutting-edge innovation, we will be in a position to build more compelling experiences for fans and make the sport more accessible to everyone.”.
“Women’s cricket is expanding more rapidly than ever before, and with this partnership, not only will we accelerate its reach on a global level, but also encourage future generations to identify with cricket as the game for them.
“With Google, we will ensure women’s cricket becomes a globally dominant force, engaging with fans in traditional and new markets alike.”
Google’s Perspective
Shekar Khosla, Google India VP Marketing, supplemented: “Cricket is always about passion and shared community. We are honored to collaborate with the ICC to take fans of women’s cricket closer to the action with our technology.”
“This partnership is not only about one tournament; it’s about creating deeper connections, making the sport more inclusive, and allowing fans to feel more connected to what they are passionate about.
