QUINONES AT FULL TIME STORY: Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr were humbled 2-1 by Julian Quinones and Al Qadsiah on Al Nassr turf in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday (January 8). Both Ronaldo and Joao Felix played a part in first-half chances for Al Nassr, but they failed to find the net and it was 0-0 at the break. The game-changer came in the 51st minute when Al Nassr goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi made a blunder when trying to clear the ball. Quinones intercepted the kick and simply had to drive it home to an open net which Al-Aqidi had left unprotected. Nahitan Nandez scored off the rebound in the 66th minute to make 2-0 and seal the victory. Ronaldo scored from the spot with just under 10 minutes left in regulation, but it was too little too late as Al Nassr suffered their second straight league defeat. After defeating Al Hazem 3-0 early on Thursday, Al Hilal are now four points up on Al Nassr with 35 from 13 matches to Al Nassr’s 31. Al-Taawoun are currently in third with 28 points but with a game in hand. (Production: Kurt Michael Hall)
