India’s young boxers created a sensation at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, winning an unprecedented seven medals-four golds, two silvers, and one bronze. This is the highest medal tally by any Indian sporting discipline at the event and also represents India’s best-ever performance in youth boxing at a continental level.

The BFI also stated that India topped the Girls’ Boxing category, standing first with four golds and one silver, further underlining the country’s growing dominance in the sport.

Asian Youth Games 2025: Golden Girls Dominate the Ring for India

India’s medal rush started with Khushi Chand (46kg) who began the morning session by defeating Luo Jinxiu of China 4:1 in a tactical match. Soon after that, Ahaana Sharma (50kg) went on to win by RSC in the first round against Ma Jong Hyang of Korea.

The momentum continued as Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari (54kg) simply outpunched Uzbekistan’s Muhammadova Kumriniso 5:0, showing razor-sharp aggression and control. Anshika (80kg) became India’s fourth gold winner with an authoritative win, while the valiant Harnoor Kaur (66kg) had to be content with silver after a closely-fought bout.

Asian Youth Games 2025: Boys Add to the Medal Tally

Among the boys, Lanchenba Singh Moibungkhongbam (50kg) fought valiantly, losing narrowly to Nurmakhan Zhumagali of Kazakhstan to secure a well-deserved silver medal, while Anant Deshmukh (66kg) bagged a bronze to wrap up a glorious campaign for the Indian team.

Asian Youth Games: A Milestone for Indian Youth Boxing

The stellar seven-medal performance is a testament to the depth of India’s youth boxing program, coupled with the rigorous training by Head Coaches Vinod Kumar (boys) and Jitender Raj Singh (girls) at NS NIS Patiala.
