ARSENAL MANAGER MIKEL ARTETA SPEAKING AT POST MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE AFTER 0-0 DRAW WITH LIVERPOOL AT EMIRATES STADIUM 2. (SOUNDBITE)(English) ARSENAL MANAGER MIKEL ARTETA ON THE 0-0 DRAW RESULT, SAYING: "Well, obviously we wanted to win the game, unfortunately we didn't manage to do that in the first half, we were much closer to that with the amount of situations and the spaces that we arrived into, normally you have to pick somebody in the box and it's a goal, and we had much more domination in the second half. We struggled to dominate the game more through two things, one, because we gave some very unnecessary balls away, and that didn't allow us to travel together as a team, and when you don't do that you are not compact and they start to drop everybody behind the ball and through the midfielders back, without having any presence in the box obviously, but they have the ball without really, because I don't think they had a single shot on target tonight, but we struggled more to dominate the game and to be a threat in the opposition box." 3. WHITE FLASH 4. (SOUNDBITE)(English) ARSENAL MANAGER MIKEL ARTETA ON MISSING OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE LEAD OVER RIVALS, SAYING: "Yeah, every time you don't win, but then we would have been 12, 15 or 20 points ahead, you know. I have to really praise the team, the players individually, for what they've done in this Christmas period because the demands on the schedule, it's unbelievable, and what they've done I think is remarkable, so to come out of this period with all the issues that we had, in the position we are, in the strong position that we are, I think the boys deserve my credit and everybody's recognition." 5. WHITE FLASH 6. (SOUNDBITE)(English) ARSENAL MANAGER MIKEL ARTETA ON THE INCIDENT BETWEEN CONOR BRADLEY AND GABRIEL MARTINELLI, SAYING: "Knowing Gabi (Gabirel Martinelli), if anybody knows Gabi, he's an incredible, lovely guy, and probably he didn't realize what happened and I hope that Conor (Bradley) is well, I will have a word with him, now with him, to understand that, but probably he didn't recognise what happened." 7. LIVERPOOL MANAGER ARNE SLOT SPEAKING AT POST MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE AFTER DRAW 8. (SOUNDBITE)(English) LIVERPOOL MANAGER ARNE SLOT ON BEING HAPPY WITH THE MATCH, SAYING: "Well definitely with the performance and to a certain extent also with the result because Arsenal is having a great season domestically and also in Europe so you know how hard it is to even get a result against them, let alone to win, so that's why to a certain extent you're positive about the results. Think in the first half they had much more ball possession than us, although in some spells of the game you could already see how well we can play. The ball out from the back and how many times we could play through them, but they were more dominant, there were a few times were very dangerous over their right side with (Jurrien) Timber and (Bukayo) Saka, but that did not do much more than crosses. And in the second half I think we defended a little bit better in their first build up so that made it more difficult for them to dominate as much as they did in the first half and we were even better on the ball or we did similar things like the parts in the first half to dominate but, yeah, from all that ball possession, and that's not something new for someone who follows Liverpool, you're hoping for more chance creation, and we were a lot of times very close to shots, decision making in the end, but yeah, hit the bar in the first half, just not enough to score a goal." 9. WHITE FLASH 10. (SOUNDBITE)(English) LIVERPOOL MANAGER ARNE SLOT ON INCIDENT WITH CONOR BRADLEY AND GABRIEL MARTINELLI, SAYING: "I don't know Gabriel Martinelli but he comes across as a nice guy and I think, the problem for him is, and that's the problem in general in football that there is so much time wasting and players pretending that they are injured in the final parts of the game or during the game, that you can then sometimes be annoyed if you want to score a goal that you think that player is time wasting. And I cannot ask from Gabriel Martinelli, in 94 minutes when it's so emotional, for him to understand that he plays Liverpool, that that is a team, when they are playing hold, hold, hold against, which was the game against Leeds United, and we don't even go to the floor, if we play West Ham United and (Lucas) Paqueta tries everything to do to get a second yellow card that my players tried to drag him out, you cannot expect from Martinelli that he thinks so clear in 94th minute, so I'm 100 percent sure that if he knew what the injury might have, might be, that he would never do that and…but it doesn't look great if he has the injury which we fear he might have, of course, but football time wasting, diving, has come to the situation that players think in the 94th minute, that probably that is happening again, because I've seen it happening against us so many times this season that I can understand that Martinelli might have thought that this was time wasting as well and he couldn't thought about this is Liverpool, they don't do this." (REPORTER OFF-CAMERA ASKING ABOUT BRADLEY INJURY UPDATE) "I don't know yet, but it didn't look great if you have to go off on a stretcher, and I think we could both, when we see the video, we both think probably the same, but yeah, we have to wait on the scans. If it's that bad, or maybe he can play on Monday, let's hope so." LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (JANUARY 8, 2026) (ACTION IMAGES VIA REUTERS – Access all) (MUTE) 11. VARIOUS STILL PHOTOS OF LIVERPOOL AND ARSENAL PLAYERS AROUND MARTINELLI AFTER HE TRIED TO PUSH INJURED BRADLEY OFF THE PITCH LATE IN MATCH STORY: Arsenal missed the chance to go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League in a turgid 0-0 draw with champions Liverpool at a rain-drenched Emirates Stadium on Thursday (January 8). Mikel Arteta's side had won seven successive home league games and were expected to take advantage of title rivals dropping points but were subdued against a Liverpool side who extended their unbeaten league run to nine games. Injury-hit Liverpool began slowly but grew in stature and came closest to breaking the deadlock when Conor Bradley struck the crossbar in the first half. Arsenal sent on a host of attacking substitutes after the break but too little effect as a cagey game petered out. The draw put Arsenal six points clear of Manchester City and Aston Villa while Liverpool remain fourth, 14 points adrift. Arsenal failed to exert any pressure on Liverpool in a forgettable second half and did not earn a corner until deep in stoppage time but even their famed set-pieces proved harmless. There were glum faces among the Arsenal players at fulltime and in the stands, although with 17 games remaining the London club are favourites to claim a first title since 2004. One player drawing attention in the post match was Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli, after the Brazilian tried to push injured Liverpool player Conor Bradley off the pitch in stoppage time. Bradley fell awkwardly near the touchline in stoppage time and Martinelli clearly thought he was time-wasting, throwing the ball at him before manhandling him. Liverpool's players reacted angrily and after the ensuing melee, Martinelli and Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate were booked. Northern Ireland full back Bradley was eventually taken off the field on a stretcher in obvious distress. Liverpool manager Arne Slot said he "feared the worst" for Bradley, although he was measured in his criticism of Martinelli…
