VIDEO SHOWS: PRESS CONFERENCES AHEAD OF ATP FINALS / CARLOS ALCARAZ, TAYLOR FRITZ, ALEX DE MINAUR, JANNIK SINNER, ALEXANDER ZVEREV AND BEN SHELTON SPEAK AHEAD OF TOURNAMENT RESENDING WITH COMPLETE SCRIPT SHOWS: TURIN, ITALY (NOVEMBER 7, 2025) (ATP MEDIA LTD/IMG – Editorial use only. No Monetisation. No resales) 1. FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: ALEX DE MINAUR, TAYLOR FRITZ AND CARLOS ALCARAZ SEATED AT PRESS CONFERENCE 2. (SOUNDBITE) (English) CARLOS ALCARAZ, SAYING:     "Yeah, I'm excited and I'm really motivated to do a good performance here, to play good tennis, giving myself the chance to try to win it. So let's see, but obviously the number one spot is on the line as well, so I think it's going to be really interesting for the people to watch the matches, to follow really closely everything, so I think it's going to be a great and interesting week." 3. PRESSER IN PROGRESS 4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) CARLOS ALCARAZ, ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH RIVAL JANNIK SINNER, SAYING:     "I mean, the relationship we have of course is really good. I mean, he's really a nice person. He has really nice people around him, which is great, having time off the court to talk with him about life, not only tennis. Yeah, probably the people might be surprised about it because when they think about a rivalry, when they think about fighting for great things, fighting for the number one spot, we have to hate each other and I think that's not true. Once we step on the court, we have our goals. We want to do our best just to to win the match, but after when we shake hands, you know, off the court, we are the same person and I think that's a really healthy rivalry that we have and I think that's great for sports as well." 5. PRESSER IN PROGRESS 6. (SOUNDBITE) (English) TAYLOR FRITZ, ON NOVAK DJOKOVIC YET TO COMMIT TO TOURNAMENT, SAYING:     "Yeah, obviously when you're on the fence, everyone's not sure if you're going to play, yes there's inconveniences, but he's earned that right in my opinion as he's qualified, you know. It's his decision if he wants to play or not play and if he wants to wait on it and see how he feels, you know, like I said, it does cause some inconveniences, but he's earned that right in my opinion." 7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ALEX DE MINAUR, SAYING:     "We're all very capable of playing some good tennis and making life difficult for each other, so saying that, I think we're all excited for the competition to start and, you know, it's what we're all aiming for, the last tournament of the year, to have a really good week and show everything that we've kind of accomplished throughout the whole year." 8. (RIGHT TO LEFT): JANNIK SINNER, ALEXANDER ZVEREV AND BEN SHELTON ARRIVING AT PRESSER 9. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JANNIK SINNER, SAYING:     "Yeah, I'm very happy to be here, you know, it's the last tournament we play. Let's see what's coming, but I'm very happy to play in Italy once again after Rome, coming back here in Turin after last year. It's great and we'll all hope for a great event." 10. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ALEXANDER ZVEREV, ON WHETHER THERE'S A PERCEPTION OF SINNER AND ALCARAZ BEING A CLASS APART, SAYING:     "Well, to be honest, I think everybody's quite far from Jannik and Carlos at the moment. So it's not the perception, it's the truth at the end of the day. So, this year I had some issues, I had some physical issues all the time this year, you know, struggling with health, but when I was healthy and when I was able to compete like I feel like (I was in) the last few weeks in Vienna and in Paris, I feel like I could, I was still showing some great tennis and this is what is giving me hope, you know, when I take care of my body and when I'm at 100%, I feel like I can compete with the best players in the world and yeah. But the perception that Jannik and Carlos are far ahead, it's not a perception, it's the truth. It's as simple as that." 11. REPORTER ASKING SHELTON AND ZVEREV ABOUT WHICH PLAYER THEY WOULD RATHER FACE IN THE GROUP STAGES – ALCARAZ OR SINNER / (SOUNDBITE) (English) BEN SHELTON, SAYING:     "I think that, you know, my first time playing in this event here in Italy, I'm somebody who likes, you know, big crowds and feeling the energy from the crowd, whether it's with me or against me. So, I hoped that I was in the group of whatever Italians were in the tournament to be able to feel that and experience that. I thought it would be very cool. I don't know if that's the exact answer that you were looking for and where I hoped, but I thought it would be a cool experience to play an Italian here in Torino." / (SOUNDBITE) (English) ALEXANDER ZVEREV, SAYING:     "Carlos."     (laughter)     "No, but it doesn't matter, to be honest. No, it matters but they are both the best players in the world, for sure. And, but for me in this particular surface and indoors on a faster hardcourt, I feel like this court is much faster than Paris, I think Jannik is the best player in the world. And I think if you ask Carlos, Carlos will probably agree. Of course, anybody can beat anybody and of course Carlos can beat Jannik and the other way around. But also the last two years I was with Carlos in one group and I was able to win both of those matches. So yeah, but there's not, like, one is here and the other one is there. I was wishing that both of them are in the same group with each other and then we can play in a different tournament but that's how it is." 12. PRESSER IN PROGRESS STORY: Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Italy's Jannik Sinner are set to headline the ATP Finals in Turin, beginning on Sunday (November 9), with both players aiming to cap their seasons with the prestigious year-ending title. The two rivals, currently vying for the world number one spot to end the year, expressed excitement and determination ahead of the event. Alcaraz, 22, said people are often surprised by his warm relationship with Sinner off the court. "When they think about a rivalry, they think we have to hate each other, and I think that's not true. Once we step on the court, we have our goals, but off the court, we are the same person. I think that's great for sports as well," he said. American Taylor Fritz said the players were a little inconvenienced by the late decision by Novak Djokovic, currently playing in Athens, on whether or not he'll participate at the tournament, but added he felt Djokovic had earned that right by qualifying in the first place and was within his right to see how he felt after Saturday's Helenic Championship final against Italian Lorenzo Musetti. If Musetti can beat Djokovic, he can secure a place at the ATP Finals alongside Djokovic, but a Djokovic win allows Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime to join. Germany's Alexander Zverev, a former ATP Finals champion, acknowledged the dominance of Alcaraz and Sinner this season. "To be honest, I think everybody's quite far from Jannik and Carlos at the moment. It's not perception; it's the truth," Zverev said. The ATP Finals will feature the top eight players from the season, competing in two round-robin groups. The tournament, held on indoor hardcourts at the Pala Alpitour, will conclude next Sunday (November 16). (Production: Mussab Al-Khairalla)
