BytePe, India’s first tech subscription platform, has been launched to change how people in India use and buy new smartphones. The company, started by Jayant Jha, an experienced entrepreneur and former Flipkart executive, wants to replace the old way of buying phones with a simple subscription plan that gives users more freedom and flexibility.
A New Way to Access Smartphones
Traditionally, tech users in India have had to save money, manage EMIs, and use devices for several years, even after they become outdated. BytePe changes this approach by offering monthly subscription plans that include yearly upgrades, allowing users to pay only for what they use.
Subscribers can now access the newly launched iPhone 17 series, including:
-
iPhone 17
-
iPhone Air
-
iPhone 17 Pro
-
iPhone 17 Pro Max
This makes Apple’s latest smartphones more affordable and flexible, eliminating the need for large upfront payments or long-term EMIs.
Founder’s Vision: Flexibility and Convenience
Speaking about the launch, Jayant Jha, founder and CEO of BytePe, said, “After years in India’s consumer electronics industry, I’ve seen how long EMIs, outdated devices, and limited choices frustrate consumers. With BytePe, we are changing that. We’re starting with smartphones but will soon expand into more categories such as electronics, accessories, and beyond.”
How BytePe Subscription Works
For instance, the newly launched iPhone 17 (256GB), priced at Rs 82,900, can now be subscribed to on BytePe through a monthly plan, similar to traditional EMIs for credit card users. BytePe has also introduced BytePe EMI for non-credit card users, providing the same convenience and flexibility.
After 12 months, users have three options:
-
Upgrade to a new device
-
Return the phone
-
Continue subscription for another year and eventually own the phone outright
Every subscription also includes one-time 100% damage protection, ensuring device safety during the usage period.
Additional Features for Buyers
BytePe also offers an upfront purchase option with one-year insurance and a guaranteed buyback value of up to 50% at the end of 12 or 24 months. This option is ideal for customers who prefer one-time payment instead of monthly subscriptions.
Subscribers can upgrade their phone every year at no extra cost, save on monthly expenses compared to traditional EMIs, and avoid hidden fees or long-term lock-ins. According to BytePe, the platform provides complete transparency and allows users to pay only for the duration they use the device.
With the launch of BytePe, Indians now have a smarter, more flexible way to access the latest smartphones. The platform not only makes premium devices like the iPhone 17 series more affordable but also introduces a modern approach to technology ownership, empowering users to stay updated with the newest gadgets without financial stress.
