Kareena Kapoor Khan has been a fitness icon from long, especially for those who are in weight loss journey, from her iconic size-zero look in Tashan to post-pregnancy transformations, the 44-year-old Bollywood star has defied expectations and body stereotypes. 

In many interviews, Kareena has revealed that her weight loss was never about crash diets or starvation as it is a combination of traditional food and yoga. With guidance from celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, she managed to shed 20 kg for Tashan and later 32 kg after the birth of her son Taimur where her story shows that healthy, sustainable habits—not fads—build lasting fitness.

How Kareena Achieved Size Zero

Kareena’s much-discussed size-zero phase came in 2008 when she had to look super fit for her role in Tashan. She lost nearly 20 kg—dropping from 68 kg to 48 kg.

Recalling that time, Kareena said in an interview that Aditya Chopra challenged her to get into the best shape of her life. She took it seriously. The result? A toned physique and that memorable bikini scene.

She credited her transformation to two key elements: yoga and a well-planned diet curated by Rujuta Diwekar. Contrary to rumors, she did not survive on orange juice alone.

A Punjabi Girl Who Eats Ghee and Parathas

Kareena dismissed the idea of surviving on liquids. She emphasized that she never starved. “I’m a Kapoor with a Punjabi build. I can’t live without wholesome food,” she said.

Rujuta encouraged her to consume ghee, rice, and parathas balanced with the right proportions, Kareena also revealed that this sensible approach not only helped her lose weight but also supported her fertility.

Home Hacks for Gut Health

Kareena also relied on simple, traditional remedies for digestion and detox and whenever she faced acidity, Rujuta would suggest a glass of chilled milk with gulkand and other times, water infused with kesar would help flush out toxins.

These easy hacks became part of Kareena’s daily routine and helped her stay consistent in her wellness journey.

Post-pregnancy Transformation and Consistency

After giving birth to Taimur, Kareena lost around 32 kg without rushing the process whereas her team confirmed that she continued to follow the same plan she began in 2009 also she stayed committed to real food, yoga, and mindful routines.

Even years later, her approach hasn’t changed. She proves that long-term consistency always beats shortcuts.
