New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono on Sunday co-chaired the 8th India-Indonesia Joint Commission Meeting in New Delhi, reviewing the growing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

The ministers held discussions on political, defence and security cooperation, maritime and shipping ties, trade, fintech, health, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, critical minerals, tourism, education and cultural exchanges.

They also exchanged views on regional developments, multilateral coordination and measures to deepen India-ASEAN ties.

“A pleasure to co-chair the 8th India-Indonesia Joint Commission meeting alongside FM Sugiono. Our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has witnessed a strong growth in recent years,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.

Sugiono said the two sides discussed key priorities, including trade, maritime security, digital connectivity, infrastructure, health and people-to-people ties.

He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Jakarta would provide an opportunity to further deepen cooperation and deliver tangible benefits for the people of both countries.

Jaishankar said the visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations in 2025 had provided fresh momentum to bilateral ties.

The meeting comes as India and Indonesia seek to expand cooperation under various ASEAN-led mechanisms and strengthen coordination in the Indo-Pacific region.
