Srinagar, Sep 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday moved a notice seeking the removal of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather from his post.
During the Assembly proceedings, BJP MLA from Udhampur East, R S Pathania, informed the House that the party had submitted a notice under the relevant rules for moving a resolution for the Speaker’s removal.
Addressing the Speaker, Pathania said the BJP had formally served the notice and sought action in accordance with the Assembly rules and procedures.
The development comes amid ongoing proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and is likely to trigger further political debate in the House.
