An unofficial holiday dedicated to celebrating and smoking marijuana. 420 Day is celebrated every year on 20 April, where people advocate celebrate and smoke marijuana. In the 1970s when a group of teenagers from San Rafael High School in Marian County would ritualistically smoke marijuana at 4:20 each day. The number 420 became their code for marijuana. Subsequently, the term 420 ultimately became synonymous with the drug. Social media users across the world rang in the unofficial holiday Wednesday by calling for the legalization of weed worldwide and by posting pictures of their cannabis products.
“Happy 420,” XXL magazine posted along with a picture of actor Seth Rogen alongside rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa smoking marijuana “blunts.”
