Police in Navi Mumbai have filed an FIR against a doctor accused of assaulting a 56-year-old woman who had previously blamed him for her son’s death. The incident reportedly occurred after the woman confronted the doctor about her son’s death during treatment at a local hospital.
The deceased, a resident of CBD Belapur, passed away on May 30 this year. Although the exact cause of death was not detailed in the FIR, the woman had alleged that the doctor’s inadequate treatment led to her son’s demise. According to the police, the confrontation escalated, resulting in the doctor allegedly abusing and molesting the woman.
The FIR was lodged on Saturday based on the woman’s complaint. The case against the doctor includes charges under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita: Section 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 79 (acts intended to insult a woman’s modesty), Section 351(3) (criminal intimidation through threats of death or grievous harm), and Section 352 (intentional insult with the aim to provoke a breach of peace).
The police have not provided an explanation for the delay in filing the complaint.
