In a decisive move to ensure road safety and prevent accidents, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) in Doda initiated a robust enforcement drive against traffic violators. The drive, mandated by District Magistrate Doda Harvinder Singh, aims to safeguard commuters and reduce road accidents.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajesh Gupta provided a comprehensive report detailing the extensive actions taken across various areas in the district. The enforcement activities were strategically concentrated on key locations such as NH-244, 9th-KM entry point, Ghatsoo, Puneja, Thalela, Thathri, Gandoh, Bhalessa, Gowari, Bhaderwah, Bhalla, Trown, Bhasti, Koti, Gundna, and Bharat Road.
The report showcased significant statistics, including the issuance of 239 challans and 79 compound challans. A total of 31 vehicles were seized during the drive. Impressively, 318 challans were issued, resulting in a fine realization of 168,500 for traffic violators. The enforcement drive also emphasized road safety by issuing notices for the suspension of driving licenses. Six licenses were suspended due to violations such as using mobile phones and not wearing helmets. Additionally, three notices for the suspension of route permits were issued, leading to one route permit being suspended. This concerted effort is geared towards enhancing road safety, enforcing traffic regulations, and cultivating a sense of responsibility among commuters. The Assistant Regional Transport Officer emphasized that the drive will persist throughout the district, fostering a culture of responsible driving, particularly crucial during the upcoming winter season.
