The sanitation system in the capital Jaipur is consistently deteriorating. Piles of garbage are present in various areas of the city. In response, the Mayor of Greater Municipal Corporation, Soumya Gurjar, took an early morning tour of Malviya Nagar and Mansarovar zones on Monday. During this tour, she saw piles of garbage along with the absence of cleanliness.

After that, she instructed the zone commissioners to deploy sanitation workers and immediately clean up the area. The Mayor explained to those with hand carts outside SMS Hospital not to spread garbage and to use green-blue dustbins. She appealed to everyone not to litter and to dispose of waste in the dustbins.
Through wireless communication, the Mayor took attendance of all the sanitary inspectors and sub-inspectors first during the inspection.
Along with this, she also asked for the location of all the commissioners. During the inspection, the zone commissioner, relevant zone official, sub-inspector, and sanitary inspector were present.

She instructed officials present at the scene that heaps of garbage should no longer be visible on the roads. It is worth noting that the Mayor had recently convened a marathon meeting regarding the sanitation system, in which, all zone commissioners were instructed that officers should be in the field from 7 am to 9 am, evaluating the sanitation system, and immediately cleaning up wherever a garbage depot is seen. Despite this, the officials did not take the Mayor’s instructions seriously.
